FRUIT BODY: Up to 10cm high and usually in small groups the individual fruit body is a twisted structure that has a club-shaped head that can have several short stumpy branches at the apex. Longitudinally furrowed, contorted and with flesh that turns brownish with age this frequently found fungus is hard to mistake.   GILLS/PORES: N/A. FLESH: White and flexible. No distinct taste or smell. SPORES: Broadly elliptic, smooth, 9-12 x 8-10 µm; non-amyloid. HABITAT: On soil and amongst litter and mosses in both coniferous and deciduous woodland. SEASON: Frequent.  Late summer to late autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
